Micaela has been a Multicolores artist since 2013.
Her favorite part of being an artist at Multicolores is designing, as she enjoys innovating, and when it comes to creating new designs, she finds it easy to translate them onto the rugs.
She gets her inspirations from “Güipiles” (traditional blouses), weavings, belts, traditional Guatemalan clothing, and similarly draws inspiration from ancient books recounting the stories of her ancestors, the Maya.
Micaela feels proud of her work as she has more companions who are part of her group. They are having the opportunity to achieve their dreams and goals. She also feels proud because having an income has allowed her to receive medical attention. She faced a difficult health situation and underwent a 3-year treatment, which she could cover with the earnings from the rugs she created.
“For me, Multicolores is an association that supports women in moving forward through trainings and workshops, which help them create their artworks.”
