Patanatic is a small rural community located in the highlands near Lake Atitlán, within the Sololá department of Guatemala. It is part of the broader Santa Lucía Utatlán municipality and is predominantly inhabited by Kʼicheʼ Maya people. The region is known for its strong agricultural roots, with residents primarily engaged in farming crops such as corn, beans, and coffee.

Patanatic is also recognized for its community-driven development and environmental conservation efforts. In recent years, local initiatives have focused on improving access to clean water, health care, and education, often in collaboration with NGOs and international partners.

Though less visited than more prominent towns around Lake Atitlán, Patanatic offers insight into everyday rural Maya life and the resilience of indigenous communities working toward sustainable progress while preserving their cultural heritage.
