"The birds represent the history of Santiago Atitlán and evoke both nature and the traditional clothing of Guatemala."
This work of art was designed and hand-stitched by Felipa Aracely Chuc Yax, member of the Totonicapán embroidery group.
Hand embroidered wall hanging measures approximately 28 x 23.5 inches.
Materials:
The base is made of cream-colored cotton.
The birds are stitched using cotton and lustrina threads. The border is made of recycled indigo 'corte' fabric, with a hanging system of five loops made from recycled 'corte randa' (trimming). The back features are created with patches of recycled fabrics from paca.
Made in Guatemala.
