Wall hanging (set)

"The nahuales, an integral part of Guatemalan culture, represent the 20 days of the Maya calendar, influencing destiny based on the date of birth."

This work of art was designed and hand-stitched by Cipriana García Ajpop, member of the Totonicapán embroidery group.

Hand embroidered wall hanging measures approximately 19 x 25.5 inches.

Materials:

• The base is made of cream-colored cotton.
• The nahuales are stitched using cotton and lustrina threads.
• The border is made of recycled indigo 'corte' fabric, with a hanging system of five loops made from recycled 'corte randa' (trimming).
• The back features are created with patches of recycled fabrics from paca.
