"Embroidered huipil design that represent the traditional costume of Sumpango, Sacatepéquez, Guatemala."

This embroidered pillow was designed and hand-stitched by Melina Yol Chiquitó, member of the Sumpango embroidery group. The design is based on the traditional blouses w orn bythe Maya women. The embroidery is done with a variety of stitches in mostly reds, brick, cream, pumpkin, dusty rose and grey. he birds and geometric designs are done with a variety of embroidery stitches. Beautiful on the couch or the bed.

Materials

The pillow cloth is handwoven traditional recycled indigo fabric (corte) with subtle blue stripes. The embroidery is done with a variety of threads and stitches. There is a hidden zipper on the back side allowing for easy washing. Pillow insert is not included.
