"Embroidered designs of flowers that represent the patterns of huipiles and the nature of Guatemala."

This work of art was designed and hand-stitched by Simeona Lucía Juárez Yax, a member of the Totonicapán embroidery group. The bold floral design is crafted with cotton thread and framed with patterned recycled 'corte' fabric that compliments the embroidery. This table runner is also beautiful as a wall hanging or on the foot of the bed.

Simeona Lucía Juárez Yax

Her favorite aspect of being an artist at Multicolores is the process of thinking and selecting the story she wants to depict on her fabric. She also enjoys the finalizing phase of her design because it evokes various emotions in her, such as joy, peace, and harmony.

She draws inspiration from the things she observes, including nature, mountains, and traditions, all of which help her represent Guatemala.

Lucía takes great pride in the continuous improvement of her embroidery technique every day.

“Multicolores is like a big family and a place where we can share many things. It’s a space filled with knowledge and experiences. You can feel the positive energy there, which fills me with enthusiasm and positivity.”
