This beautiful pillow is made by Ana María Quexel Gonzalez, member of the Sumpango embroidery group. 

The design is inspired by the Sumpango, Zacatepeque dress; it features the Mayan women’s huipil, and its colors are inspired by the earth. This piece is ideal for decorating the various spaces in your living room and bedroom.

Materials

The pillow cloth is handwoven traditional recycled indigo fabric (corte) with subtle blue stripes. The embroidery is done with a variety of threads and stitches. There is a hidden zipper on the back side allowing for easy washing. Pillow insert is not included.

Ana María Quexel González

Her favorite aspects of being an artist at Multicolores involves drawing and narrating the stories of her creations, as well as combining colors.

She draws inspiration from her traditional costume and nature to extract designs and portray them in her embroideries.

At the beginning of her journey with Multicolores, she struggled to grasp the technique, but now she takes pride in the progress she has made and the new knowledge she acquires every day.
