This work of art was designed and hand-stitched by Cipriana García Ajpop, member of the Totonicapán embroidery group.

This huipil features pastel colors, and the design is inspired by Sumpango Sacatepéquez, the kite festival town. Perfect for decorating your home, this highly adaptable palette can complement any space in your living room or bedroom.

Materials

The pillow cloth is handwoven traditional recycled indigo fabric (corte) with subtle blue stripes. The embroidery is done with a variety of threads and stitches. There is a hidden zipper on the back side allowing for easy washing. Pillow insert is not included.

Cipriana García Ajpop

Her favorite aspect of being an artist at Multicolores is embroidering with her daughters. She takes pleasure in weaving her stories into her fabrics. She meticulously selects colors to ensure the perfect combination. This allows her to effectively convey the narratives she wants to share.

Cipriana draws her inspiration from the traditions of her community, such as the local fairs, and also from the customs of other communities throughout Guatemala.

She takes pride in creating her embroideries and combining colors.
