"Caring for Myself is Loving Myself"
Art of being: A self portrait in Rug Hooking
By Carmen Maldonado García
My portrait is an invitation to reflect on holistic health. On the journey of exploring who I am, I have discovered that my being has emotional, spiritual, and physical dimensions, all equally valuable. Recognizing myself fully awakened in me a commitment to care for my health, because I understood that no one else can do it for me.
This care goes beyond preventing physical illness; it also involves protecting my psychological well-being, which so often goes unnoticed because it is not as visible as the body.
My work celebrates the self-care and self-love I have learned to cultivate. Only I truly know what I need; when I do not have all the answers, I allow myself to ask for help, always guided by the wise voice within me.
