"Freedom in Harmony"

Art of being: A self portrait in Embroidery

By Micaela Yaj Sunú

For our ancestors, harmony is a state of balance rooted in the deep interconnection among all living beings. Achieving it involves practicing respect, reciprocity, gratitude, and complementarity in our relationships.

Through exploring who I am, I have understood that these ancestral principles form the foundation of my self-discovery. In our tradition, knowing oneself is not an isolated act; it is intimately connected to the relationship we cultivate with everything around us.

This piece reflects how my bond with the environment is the path that allows me to understand myself deeply—a reminder that I can only truly know myself when I recognize that I am part of a living web of connections.
