"Hope"
Art of being: A self portrait in Rug Hooking
By Catalina Tomasa Itzep Chay
During my journey of self-discovery, I realized the power of symbols as mirrors of our own essence. This became the inspiration for my portrait: anthuriums, flowers that to me represent resilience, abundance, lasting love, and vitality.
Whenever I behold their beauty, I am reminded of my own inner light, the passion I put into every goal, and the strength that drives me to overcome life’s obstacles.
With this work, I hope to convey the hope that anthuriums have planted in me. In their shapes and colors, I see a true reflection of who I am, and I hope that when you look at them, you too can find in them an echo of your own story.
