"Support and Comfort in Life"

Art of being: A self portrait in Embroidery

By Telma Esperanza Cubur Solloy de Sec

My portrait is a tribute to all the skills and dreams that dwell within me, some already visible and others still hidden, waiting for the right moment to reveal themselves to the world.

When the future feels uncertain, I seek what can support me, ground me, and help me recognize what I already have in the present. I remind myself of my abilities and deeply appreciate everything that surrounds me here and now.

It is patience, together with my willpower, that drives me to keep moving forward. The woman you see in this portrait does not give up: she faces life with confidence because she knows that a braid of colors—a symbol of unity, identity, and faith—connects her and sustains her with her Creator.

"When the future feels uncertain, I seek what can support me, ground me, and help me recognize what I already have in the present."
