"Peace and Tranquility"
Art of being: A self portrait in Embroidery
By María Magdalena Tziná Vásque
My piece honors my adolescent self. Often, we speak of the inner child that lives within all of us, but little is said about the young woman who also inhabits us: the girl who, in her adolescence, faced challenges and difficulties, and who today has managed to move forward.
For me, discovering who I am, has meant looking back at the past to understand myself in the present. My adolescence accompanies me, but no longer through pain; I have learned to see it with new eyes. Today, I embrace the dreamer and adventurous young woman I once was, and I choose to continue being her. In this way, peace and tranquility dwell within me when I accept my past with love.
