"Volcanic Woman"

Art of being: A self portrait in Rug Hooking

By Gloria Angélica Yax Yax de Tumax

My work is inspired by the volcanoes of Guatemala, which for me symbolize the strength and inner fire that drive us to seek solutions when we face life’s challenges.

Through this process of self-discovery, I have learned to embrace my path, to take responsibility for my choices, and to recognize that I am never alone: I am accompanied by a circle of women who sustain me and inspire me to give my best.

The volcanoes of Guatemala are linked by a powerful inner force. This is how I also feel the bond with my companions, whose presence has been an invaluable pillar in my healing journey.

"I have learned to embrace my path, to take responsibility for my choices, and to recognize that I am never alone: I am accompanied by a circle of women who sustain me and inspire me to give my best."
