"Transformation in Family"
Art of being: A self portrait in Embroidery
By Elsa Lorena Yol Chiquitó
There are moments in life when everything seems dark, and we cannot see when the problems will end. In these times, it is easy to feel discouraged and give up, but over time I have learned that there is another possibility: perhaps more challenging, yet deeply rewarding. It all depends on how you tell your own story. If you choose to see it through negativity, you sink; if you embrace it as an opportunity to grow, you evolve.
Transformations, like everything in life, take time and are not experienced in isolation. My personal growth is deeply connected to my community, and above all, to my family. Thanks to them, I am who I am.
Today, I am a mother, dedicating myself to my children while also working. It is a demanding combination, but with patience and love, I am learning to balance it. When I look at myself, I recognize myself as a butterfly: a being that, through metamorphosis, faces challenges to ultimately fly freely. My creative process and my journey of self-discovery are part of that same metamorphosis, and in both, I have been accompanied by my family, who have been my support and my inspiration.
