"Embroidered designs of corn and milpas represent the Maíz of Guatemala".

This work of art was designed and hand-stitched by Flora Tejaxún Chuy Gonzalez, a member of the Sumpango, Sacatepéquez embroidery group.  

The center of the table runner are images of corn with a mixed border of geometrics and images. The Intricate embroidery is done with a variety of stitches. The central design of the table runner are images of corn with a mixed border of geometrics and images on a deep indigo cloth, adorned with pom-poms. The Intricate embroidery is done with a variety of stitches. This table runner would liven up any table. Also works well as a wall hanging.

Materials

The base is made of handwoven traditional recycled indigo corte (cloth).
The design is embroidered with cotton and lustrina thread (embroidery floss) and framed with a colorful recycled traditional coth. The back is lined with recycled colored corte fabric.

Spot clean with mild soap and lay flat to dry.

Flora Tejaxún Chuy

Her favorite aspects of being an artist at Multicolores involve drawing doves, creating stories, and designing. She takes pleasure in thoughtfully selecting colors to ensure they stand out in her work.

She draws inspiration from books, conversations with her colleagues, observations of everything around her, as well as from fairs and traditions.

Flora feels proud of having a good income; it has helped her with some household expenses and her child’s education.
