"Embroidered designs of birds, nature, and geometric patterns that represent traditional Guatemalan costumes."

This work of art was designed and hand-stitched by Flora Tejaxún Chuy, member of the Sumpango embroidery group. The embroidery is done in a variety of stitches in mostly shades of rose, salmon, pink and more. The design is a combination of birds, geometrics on a deep indigo fabric. Beautiful on the couch or the bed.

    Materials

    The pillow cloth is handwoven traditional recycled indigo fabric (corte) with subtle blue stripes. The embroidery is done with a variety of threads and stitches. There is a hidden zipper on the back side allowing for easy washing. Pillow insert is not included.

    Spot clean with mild soap and lay flat to dry.

    Flora Tejaxún Chuy

    Her favorite aspects of being an artist at Multicolores involve drawing doves, creating stories, and designing. She takes pleasure in thoughtfully selecting colors to ensure they stand out in her work.

    She draws inspiration from books, conversations with her colleagues, observations of everything around her, as well as from fairs and traditions.

    Flora feels proud of having a good income; it has helped her with some household expenses and her child’s education.
